Important - please read

Almost all these scripts have been written by others. So far as I know, they have been made available for the kind of use to which I am putting them, but they may not all be available for commercial use. If you wish to use one of these scripts commercially, contact the author where known. I have tried to put in the author's e-mail and/or Web site address as much as possible, as a link or in the source code. Please also read the comments in the source code for further information.

To view the source code, right-click (Windows) or click and hold (Mac) and choose View Source or similar. You can also save the page to disk using the "Save As" menu command. To save a framed page to hard disk, click or right-click in the frame, then choose "Save As" or "Save Frame As". Some of the more recent pages have the code shown on the page in a text area. To grab the code, highlight the contents of the text area, then copy to a file. I am (slowly) updating some of the older pages to show the code in this manner as well.

One thing you need to remember about JavaScript code. It needs to be in a specific format. In particular, unlike HTML, line breaks in the wrong place will spoil things. It is like lines of program code. Get it out of line or sequence and you will get JavaScript errors when you try to load the page. The best way to keep this from happening is to turn "word wrap" off in your editor.

Especially if you are new to this site and/or JavaScript, I suggest you read the Introduction page and Browser Limitations page before attempting to use the scripts on your own site.

Please do not email me about getting these scripts to work on your machine, or your own scripts. I am certainly no JavaScript expert, and probably would not understand your question, let alone the answer! However, do please let me know if a script fails to work on my site and you are using a browser which I indicate should understand it. Also, if any links are broken do contact me. Thanks!

Special Note

Some moron has posted a silly script on my guestbook. Editing the guestbook seems to have no effect so I have been forced to remove the facility. Apologies!

You might also like to check out my personal home page, at http://www.alanpalmer.org.uk/, which contains some info about me. I have also written a guide to my local area, Greenwich and Charlton; visit it at Greenwich Guide. If you like what you see, why not contact me about designing or improving a site for you?
