These pages contains a selection of books that you may find useful in designing your site. Since new standards and techniques are continually being introduced, and new books are being written, no list can ever really be exhaustive, and this list does not pretend to be. I have only included a few titles in each section; many more can be found by using the search box at the foot of this page. To read more about a particular book, and to order from Amazon.com, click on the picture of the book's cover.

Important: If there is more than one book on this page that you want to buy, just add each book to your shopping cart, then use your browser's Back button to come back to this page for the next book. When you have added the last book to your shopping cart at Amazon.com, you can proceed directly to the checkout counter.

JavaScript

JavaScript: The Definitive Guide

JavaScript: The Definitive Guide covers JavaScript 1.2 as supported by Netscape. The book is more for reference than a guide for the absolute beginner, although you can learn from the many examples that are given.

JavaScript for the World Wide Web

JavaScript for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide, Second Edition, as the title suggests, is aimed at getting you started quickly with JavaScript, and as such is more for beginners, although experienced coders will also find it useful. There are no long explanations but rather it will let you code small Javascript things fast.

JavaScript Bible

JavaScript Bible, 3rd Edition Danny Goodman has written numerous excellent computer books. If you are familiar with HTML and want to spread out into JavaScript, this book is one of the best you can buy. This is a book aimed at all levels, so the beginner and the advanced JavaScripter will both find it useful.

DHTML

DHTML for the World Wide Web

Dhtml for the World Wide Web (Visual Quickstart Guide) is a good introduction to the subject. It is aimed at designers rather than programmers, and so does not go into long explanations.

Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Reference

Dynamic Html: The Definitive Reference is an extremely complete book on the subject; it covers cross-browser problems very well, and also covers HTML, JavaScript and Style Sheets pretty thoroughly. If you want, or can afford, only one book, this one covers the most ground.

Dynamic HTML

Dynamic HTML Another book that explicitly covers cross-browser problems. Not for beginners; you'll need a knowledge of scripting to learn from this book.
